Christopher Fowler

  • Born: Greenwich, London, 26 March 1953

Read him!  Fowler is clever, funny, and lots of fun.  His books are Golden Age Baroque with a modern sensibility: carrying on the tradition of the imaginative, literary, comico-sinister detective story that began with Chesterton and included Sayers, Allingham, Mitchell, Innes and Crispin.  (He’s a great fan of both Crispin and Mitchell, and has written about them for the Independent.)
